Apparently Twilight Times has lost the rights to John Carpenters Christine and Sony is planning on a wide-release of their own.
Twilight Times was the last company to release Christine,it was part of a limited run deal they struck with Sony for 3000 Blu-rays back in March 2013. Twilight Times also released other Sony titles such as The Blob and Fright Night in the same fashion.
I have not seen any concrete confirmation about this story yet, but Twilight Times never actually owned the exclusive film rights instead they just sub-leased them from Sony. So if Twilight Times had the rights for three years that means that they are expiring soon meaning that a re-release could be occurring in the near future. Twilight Times is very controversial in the horror-sphere because of their limited releases and rightfully-so, I for one have always been skeptical of their ethics.
If all this prior information is true it means that we might be seeing a release of Christine hit Blu-ray on September 29th.
If anything I feel bad for all the people who spent ridiculous money on the Twilight Times release. I for one have always said that it would get re-released within a couple years and it seems like my predictions are right. Lets hope that this news about Christine sparks interest with Sony that they decide to release The Blob and Fright Night as well.
