Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones hits theaters January 3rd 2014. It was the 5th in the series. (6th if you count the unofficial sequel Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night) Technically it is not a sequel to PA 1-4. Instead they billed it as a spinoff. The Marked Ones was the first Paranormal Activity film in 3 years not to be released in October. Thus breaking the yearly tradition.
The majority of hardcore horror fans HATE these films, but I don't. At least not the first two films. I have only seen the first two, but I stand by the first being a great horror film. The 2nd is just OK. However I have heard generally positive comments around the horror community for The Marked Ones. Which is extremely surprising and makes me want to continue my watching of the series. Maybe even for a special 22 Shots Podcast franchise show.
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones had a $5 Million dollar budget and raked in $32,462,372 in north america. Making it another successful venture and keeping the PA train a rolling. Of course another installment is on the way titled Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. Which is set to hit theaters March 13, 2015, and reportedly is focusing on the storyline set up in the first four films.
Early January is typically a slow time in horror. We don't see a lot of horror activity during this month, but we did have some activity of the paranormal kind.
